The workshop focuses on the subject of portraiture. The adventure begins with an introduction to the technology of ink drawing, which is our „tool“ during the workshop. Through an introduction to classical portraiture and the methods of its creation, we start playing with questions: What could a portrait be? / What could a face be? and how do we perceive images of faces – the observations collected together serve us to build collective self-portraits.

The workshop aims to explore the common spaces of drawing imagery, discovering the potential of collaborative ways of drawing and action drawing. Let’s draw together!

Wera Grzes is a painter, poet, graphic artist. She is interested in the representation of women and in her work seeks new approaches to portraiture, reflecting on the meaning of portraiture in the visual arts. In her artistic practice, she explores the relationship between figuration and abstraction, between image and word, plane and space, and the results of her explorations are paintings, prints, art books and poems.
